“All shall be well. I don’t mean that life won’t bring you tragedy. I only mean you will be well in spite of it. There’s a place in you that is inviolate. You’ll find your way there, when you need to. And you’ll know then what I speak of.”
📖 I first read these words of Sue Monk Kidd while reading The Book of Longings a few years after my marriage ended. I felt shattered, surrounded by pieces of me, many beautiful but all still too sharp to pick up and put back together.
Reading the words of others has a way of softening the edges of life and injecting a little hope.
I stumbled upon her words today while searching for something else in the Notes section of my computer. (Thank goodness for the ability to search 🔍.) Reading them reminded me that I did find my way. I actually found the inviolate place inside me. When I went to Good Reads to give you a link, I had to smile. This is what Good Reads had to say about the book:
“The Book of Longings is an inspiring account of one woman’s bold struggle to realize the passion and potential inside her, while living in a time, place, and culture devised to silence her.”
Things that make you go hmmm. 🤔
Do books speak to you this way? What are the lines? How do they make you feel?
👀 If you’ve been in a car with me, you know I have a thing for vanity license plates and fun bumper stickers. They delight me. Here are two signs that seem to have come right from the heavens into the Upper Valley for my eyes to play with.

🥶 Speaking of delight. The last time my feet were in ice skates was about 10 years ago, for my partner it was 20! After seeing a video of the Lake Morey Skate Trail, which is right across the river in Fairlee, VT, well, we just had to try it. We had a ball. A bit chilly, but the blue sky and the vibe warmed us up quickly. Amazing how the body remembers.

When was the last time you put on a pair of skates?
🎶 Lastly, a heads up - the Lake Morey Resort has a great summer concert series. Very excited about Amos Lee (favorite song Windows Are Rolled Down) and Trampled by Turtles (favorite song Alone). If you are in the area and want to join us, door is open!
Do you have any favorite places to experience live music?

Thanks for sharing Kathy - just what I needed today!
Growing up in Buffalo, NY we always had skates of all sizes in the house (mostly hand-me-downs). We’d ice skate on anything! Haha. The pictures of you and Roger getting ready to hit the ice brings back fond memories. Happy winter sporting!
